Who publishes it
This site is published by Edward & Amaury Limited, trading as Edward & Amaury Solicitors — a firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA number 800525. Our registered office is Pacific House, Parkhouse, Carlisle CA3 0LJ.
You do not have to take that on trust. Every firm authorised by the SRA appears on its public register, searchable by name or SRA number, at sra.org.uk/consumers/register. Checking is a reasonable thing to do before instructing anyone, and it takes about a minute.
The solicitors behind the firm
Edward & Amaury Solicitors is led by:
- Nadeem Pervaz — Director and Principal Solicitor
- Fiona Reid — Consultant Solicitor — Private Client
They are supported by the firm's paralegals and legal assistants, who handle much of the day-to-day progress of a claim. The full team, with current roles, is listed on the firm's own site at edwardamaury.co.uk/our-people. Both solicitors are on the SRA register, which is the place to verify anyone you are thinking of instructing.
This is not an independent comparison site
It is worth being direct about that. The firm publishing these guides also handles the type of claim they describe. The guidance here is written to be accurate and genuinely useful, but you should read it knowing where it comes from — and you are entirely free to take it and instruct someone else.
How we write these guides
Personal injury sites have a reputation for inventing numbers, and it is largely deserved. Three rules apply here:
- Compensation figures are labelled for what they are. The ranges on this site are indicative, to give you a sense of scale. They are not presented as Judicial College Guidelines brackets, because they are not taken from the Guidelines — that is the publication a solicitor uses to value a claim once medical evidence exists.
- No "average payout" figures. An average that mixes a bruised elbow with a spinal injury describes nobody's claim. We do not publish one.
- Statements of law are tied to their source. Where a guide relies on legislation or a decided case, it says which — so you can check it, or ask a solicitor about it.
The main authorities the guides rely on are the Occupiers' Liability Act 1957 and its equivalents in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the Limitation Act 1980, the Conditional Fee Agreements Order 2013, and Ward v Tesco Stores (1976) on what a supermarket has to show about its cleaning and inspection systems.
What you will find here
- Whether you can claim — the duty a supermarket owes you, and the test a claim has to meet.
- What a claim is worth — how general and special damages are calculated.
- How long you have — the three-year limit and the exceptions to it.
- How no win no fee works — including the circumstances where you could still end up paying.
- The types of supermarket claim — and what evidence decides each one.
Where we can help
The guides cover the law and claims process across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The legislation differs between those jurisdictions, and the guides say so where it matters.
