Privacy Policy
This privacy notice explains how Edward & Amaury Limited, trading as Edward & Amaury Solicitors("we"), handles personal data collected through this website. We are the data controller. Our registered office is Pacific House, Parkhouse, Carlisle CA3 0LJ, and we are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA number 800525.
What we collect
If you send an enquiry through our contact form we collect your name, email address and telephone number, and — where you choose to provide them — the date of your accident, the supermarket involved, and your description of what happened and the injuries you suffered.
Information about your injuries is health data, which UK GDPR treats as a special category requiring additional protection. We ask for it only because it is necessary to assess whether you have a claim. Please give us no more detail than you are comfortable sharing at this stage.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your enquiry solely to assess your potential claim and to respond to you. Our lawful basis for processing your contact details is our legitimate interest in responding to a request you have made of us, and taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract. For health data, we rely on the condition in Article 9(2)(f) of UK GDPR — processing necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to third-party claims management companies or lead buyers.
Where it is stored
Enquiries are stored in a secure hosted database accessible only to authorised members of the firm. Access is restricted, and the data is not publicly readable.
How long we keep it
If we do not take your claim forward, we delete enquiry data once we have finished dealing with your query and any short follow-up period has passed. If you become a client, your information is retained under the firm's client file retention policy, which we will explain when we take your instructions.
Cookies and analytics
We may use standard web analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. No personally identifying information is stored through analytics.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict our processing of it, and to request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@edwardamaury.co.uk or on 01228 272395.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
