Supermarket Accident Compensation Calculator

Use our UK compensation calculator to estimate the value of a supermarket slip, trip or fall claim. Figures combine general damages (pain and suffering) with special damages (your financial losses). The injury ranges here are indicative only — they are not taken from the Judicial College Guidelines, which is what a solicitor will actually use to value your claim once medical evidence is available.

How is compensation calculated in the UK?

UK personal injury compensation is made up of two parts. General damages compensate you for the pain, suffering and loss of amenity caused by the injury itself. Courts and solicitors use the Judicial College Guidelines (JCG) — published brackets for every injury type — as the starting point.

Special damages reimburse the financial losses you incurred because of the accident: lost wages, prescription and treatment costs, taxi fares to hospital, paid care, damaged clothing and any out-of-pocket expenses. Keep receipts and payslips — these go directly into the claim.

Under supermarket slip and fall claims, the supermarket's public liability insurer usually pays. If you are partly to blame, your award may be reduced under contributory negligence rules — but you can still claim.
